Don’t get me started. Back in the day, when I was a cabinetmakers apprentice, I got shit thrown at me for setting a plane, upright on a bench. I come to learn years later that it may actually be safer to have it upright, as it keeps the blade from getting dinged by other tools being thrown on the bench. That said, I still lay em’ down. Never know when some crazy German will wing a framing square at you from across the shop…..
