enough already: indicator debates

If ever there was a useless debate in the fly fishing “community”, it is certainly the debate over the use/non use of nymphing under an indicator/bobber. How much angst-filled prose has been spilled by angst-filled bulletin board typers over this topic?
Here’s the thing: Nobody cares! OK? Is that so hard to understand? We don’t care what kind of a purist you are. We don’t care if you think it’s not “fly fishing”. We don’t care if you catch more fish with them. We don’t care if you catch more fish without them. We don’t care why you have some sorta “moral outrage” over this topic. But more than anything, we really don’t care what you deepest most personal thoughts are concerning indicators.
We’re just here to fish.

I tried and indicator setup once, and truth be known, I just catch _too_ many fish using an indicator. that’s why I stopped. takes the fun out of it. just sayin.
Wait. nobody cares….

Whoever coined the term “strike indicator” in the fly fishing industry as a way to market a modified bobber to the anit-worm discerning fly fisher was absolutely brilliant!
Almost as brilliant as the fellow who figured out do the same for a tuft of yarn.

Bamboo Shavings says: On Buster Wants To Fish, a fly fishing blog I check pretty often, they claim that nobody cares what anyone wants to pontificate about indicator useage. Well then, why pontificate about any freaking thing concerning fly fishing, catching of fish, angling wyth ye hook or life for that matter. People that fly fish are people that cared enough about angling in general to curiously take it to another level. We mostly all started with bait. Some strange curiosity compelled us to do something difficult, learn to fly fish. Therefore our brains do not generally operate on pure poo. We philosophize we fly anglers. Get the hell over it.
Good question - “why pontificate about any freaking thing concerning fly fishing, catching of fish, angling wyth ye hook or life for that matter?” Big difference between “philosophizing” and “pontificating,” at least in my book. People can philosophize all they want to (though I’d rather go fishing), but when it starts drifting into holier-than-thou, “I fish this way so I’m better than you,” horseshite, then you’re taking all this way too seriously in my opinion. Just sayin.’
